Family Network

Networking is an integral part of the mission of Hands to Love. Networking supports Hands to Love families by bringing them together to share in the experience of raising a child with an upper limb difference.

Networking begins with the physicians and therapists at the UF Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute and their colleagues, all of whom serve as an informational resource to connect families. Based on their geographic location, child's age or child's difference, families are brought together to talk and share their experiences and resources and to support one another.

At Hand Camp, networking is an essential part of the experience. Through activities, children with and without differences make new friends and learn from each other. Bonds between parents are made over activities and meals, and families with children of the same age or difference are introduced face-to-face. The bonds made throughout the year and during Hand Camp are nurtured through psychologist-lead group sessions for parents and children.

On-line, Hands to Love families can interact through our message boards - sharing stories, asking questions, and sharing wisdom.

The ability for families to network and support each other is at the heart of Hands to Love and benefits children and parents alike.

"(Hands to Love) truly helped our family to see things in perspective! Helping people over coming life’s challenges with joy and victory! We have experienced this already through church but it is another thing to experience it with the medical team and families who know exactly what we have gone through! It was comforting. I can’t explain it."
